#1: Get Strong

Every role on a photo or video set is very physical and days can be long. Get fit if you aren’t fit, stay fit if you are. Any workout is better than no workout. Even a daily 5 or 10 minute HIIT workout will make you very strong over time. You can do them at home with or without weights, or at a gym. If you have trouble getting motivated, consider it a business requirement. It will make a huge difference on your work performance.

#2 A Freelancer Is A Small Business

Many of us are freelancers. But, that term does a disservice. You aren’t just a freelancer, you a small business owner. That’s something to be proud of!

#3 Professional Photography Is About Access

That’s all it is. Access to the subjects that people will pay to see. Access to locations. Access to stories. Access to talented crews. Access to the right light. Access is the name of the game.
